EROSION CONTROL

  • The Erosion, especially in Mines/Slopes, is controlled using Soil Bio-Engineering.
  • Coir Erosion Control Blanket is used for the purpose.
  • The Coir ECBs are Bio-degradable and provides mechanical support to the Erosion Prone Slope till the vegetation is established

ROAD EMBANKMENT PROTECTION

  • The Road Embankment is stabilized using Soil Bio-Engineering.
  • Coir Erosion Control Blanket is used for the purpose.
  • The Coir ECBs are Bio-degradable and provides mechanical support to the Erosion Prone Slope till the vegetation is established

ROAD CONSTRUCTION

BENEFITS

  • Mostly used in Road Construction, especially to Fill Gaps between the Roads to Improve Soil Structure.
  • Makes Poor Soil more Beneficial for use and then make it Easy to Build the Roads in Places where Construction is Difficult.
  • Long Lasting Separation of the Base and Sub Grade Material.
  • Improves the Stability and Decreases the Process of Wind and Water Erosion.
  • Improves Soil Characteristics such as Friction or Movement Restraint.
  • Preservation of Load-bearing Capacity.
  • Ability to Extend the Life of Paved Roads.
  • Low cost.

ROCK FALL MITIGATION

DRAPERY SYSTEM (PASSIVE PROTECTION)

A rock fall drapery system is a passive protection system. The drapery system is classified into Simple Drapery & Secured Drapery. In both cases, the slope is protected with two layers of steel meshes.

A. SIMPLE DRAPERY:

In case of Simple Drapery system, the slope is protected with two layers of steel meshes: a primary mesh and a secondary mesh. The primary mesh is a Rhomboidal Wire Rope Net & the secondary mesh is a double twist hexagonal wire mesh. Both the meshes are secured with top layer of anchors / rockbolts and a top support rope which are secured with a wire rope anchor. The drapery system acts as a curtain and allows the loose rocks to roll down the slope in a controlled manner. The loose rocks are accumulated at the bottom in a catch pit or drain.

B. SECURED DRAPERY:

In case of Secured Drapery system, the slope is as usual protected with two layers of steel meshes. The two layers of meshes are secured with two layers of rock bolt / anchors, one at the top and the other at the bottom of the slope. The meshes are secured with top and bottom support ropes which are connected with wire rope anchors. The debris/loose rocks are secured inside the drapery, which are cleaned periodically.

RIVER/POND BANK PROTECTION

  • No Harm to Fish or Surrounding Wildlife.
  • Products Capable of Handling up to 16 fps.
  • All are 100 % Natural and Biodegradable.
  • Longer Term (4 to 6 years) or Short Term (12 month) Applications.
  • Equipped to Stabilize Banks.
  • Helps Establish Vegetation Along a Bank or Shoreline.

OTHER COMMON APPLICATIONS

SILT FENCING

A silt fence, sometimes (misleadingly) called a “filter fence” is a temporary sediment control device used on construction sites to protect water quality in nearby streams, rivers, lakes and seas from sediment (loose soil) in storm water runoff. However, their effectiveness in controlling sediment can be limited, due to problems with poor installation, proper placement, and/or inadequate maintenance.

GEOCELLS FOR SLOPE PROTECTION

Geocell is used for Soil reinforcement which is proved to be a versatile method in terms of its cost effectiveness for the improvement of the strength of soft soils. It is the latest form of reinforcement which is both economical and durable in long term. It provides all round confinement to the materials hence it prevents the lateral spreading of soil on the application of load. So the use of geocell reinforcement increases the strength and stiffness property of the soft soil.

GARDEN DEVELOPMENT IN SLOPES

Grass and shrubs are very effective at stopping soil erosion. This is primarily because plant roots tend to hold soil together, making it harder to erode. The leaves of the plants also help to reduce the velocity of raindrops falling on the ground, making it harder for them to dislodge the soil and erode it. Ornamental grass and low, spreading shrubs work best as they leave no areas of bare soil exposed to the elements.
